Bacon Jammin Green Beans offer a unique twist on the traditional green bean side dish. Enhanced with a flavorful bacon jam and crispy bacon bits, these green beans are both savory and slightly sweet.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled (reserve 2 tbsp of bacon grease)
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions[edit | edit source]

  1. Begin by blanching the green beans in boiling water for 3 minutes, then transfer to an ice water bath to halt the cooking process. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add 2 tbsp of reserved bacon grease. Sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the crumbled bacon to the skillet, reserving a bit for garnish.
  5. Continue to simmer the mixture until it reduces to a jam-like consistency, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  6. Add the blanched green beans to the skillet, tossing them in the bacon jam until they're well coated and heated through.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with the reserved crumbled bacon and optional fresh parsley.
