Fexofenadine Hydrochloride is a second-generation antihistamine drug used primarily to treat allergic symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and urticaria (hives). Unlike first-generation antihistamines, fexofenadine does not cross the blood-brain barrier, which means it has a reduced tendency to cause drowsiness.

Fexofenadine hydrochloride is a white to off-white crystalline powder. It is freely soluble in methanol and ethanol, slightly soluble in chloroform and water, and insoluble in hexane. The chemical formula for fexofenadine hydrochloride is C32H39NO4·HCl, and its molecular weight is 538.12.

Fexofenadine acts by inhibiting the H1 receptor, thereby preventing the action of histamine on the H1 receptor sites.
