The Pennsylvania Republican Party (PA GOP) is the affiliate of the Republican Party (United States) in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The party is headquartered in Harrisburg.

History[edit | edit source]

The Pennsylvania Republican Party was founded in the mid-19th century, around the same time as the national Republican Party. The party has played a significant role in the political landscape of Pennsylvania, often competing with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party for control of state and federal offices.

Organization[edit | edit source]

The Pennsylvania Republican Party is organized at the state, county, and local levels. The committee is composed of elected members from each of Pennsylvania's 67 counties.

Leadership[edit | edit source]

The party's leadership includes a state chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary, and treasurer. These positions are elected by the members of the Republican State Committee. The current chairperson is Lawrence Tabas, who has served since 2019.

Ideology and Platform[edit | edit source]

The Pennsylvania Republican Party adheres to the principles and platform of the national Republican Party, which includes support for limited government, free-market capitalism, a strong national defense, and traditional social values. The party also emphasizes the importance of individual liberties and personal responsibility.
