RU-39411 is a synthetic steroidal antiandrogen that was developed in the 1980s. It is a derivative of progesterone and is known for its ability to block the effects of androgens such as testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. RU-39411 has been studied for its potential use in the treatment of conditions like prostate cancer, androgenic alopecia, and hirsutism.

Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]

RU-39411 functions as an antiandrogen by binding to the androgen receptor (AR) and preventing the activation of the receptor by endogenous androgens. This inhibition of androgen receptor activation leads to a decrease in the transcription of androgen-responsive genes, which in turn reduces the growth and proliferation of androgen-dependent tissues.
