The South Carolina Republican Party (SCGOP) is the affiliate of the Republican Party in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The party is headquartered in Columbia.

The South Carolina Republican Party was founded in the aftermath of the American Civil War during the Reconstruction era. Initially, the party struggled to gain a foothold in a state that was predominantly Democratic. However, the party began to gain traction in the mid-20th century, particularly during the Civil Rights Movement and the subsequent political realignment.
Organization[edit | edit source]
The SCGOP is organized at the state, county, and precinct levels. The state party is governed by the South Carolina Republican Party State Executive Committee, which includes representatives from each of the state's 46 counties. The party's activities are overseen by the South Carolina Republican Party State Chairman, who is elected by the state committee.
