iOS 12 is the twelfth major release of the iOS mobile operating system developed by Apple Inc. It was announced at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 4, 2018, and was released to the public on September 17, 2018. iOS 12 is the successor to iOS 11 and was succeeded by iOS 13 on September 19, 2019.

iOS 12 introduced several new features and improvements over its predecessor, focusing on performance enhancements, new functionalities, and user experience improvements.

One of the primary goals of iOS 12 was to improve the performance of iOS devices, particularly older models. Apple claimed that iOS 12 would make devices faster and more responsive, with improvements in app launch times, keyboard display, and camera access.
