Ketogenic version bone broth diet
Ketogenic Bone Broth Recipe[edit | edit source]
Ketogenic bone broth is a nutrient-dense, low-carb soup made from simmered animal bones and connective tissues. It's a staple in many low-carb, high-fat diets due to its rich content of protein, collagen, and essential minerals.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- 2 kg of mixed beef bones (knuckles, tails, neck bones and/or marrow bones)
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1 teaspoon of pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- Water to cover
Instructions[edit | edit source]
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Place the bones on a baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes.
- Flip each bone and roast for an additional 30 minutes.
- Place the roasted bones, vegetables, garlic, vinegar, and spices into a large crockpot or soup pot. Cover completely with water.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over low heat and let it cook for 24-48 hours. The longer it cooks, the better the flavor will be.
- Strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve into a large container and discard the solids.
- Let the broth cool to room temperature. Once it's cool, store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for later use.
