Poulet au four
Poulet au four is a low carbohydrate / keto friendly food item.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Poulet au four is the French term for oven-roasted chicken. It's a classic dish loved for its crispy skin, tender meat, and flavorful herbs. This dish is not only a staple in French households but is enjoyed worldwide, especially because of its keto-friendly profile.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- 1 whole chicken (about 4-5 lbs or 1.8-2.3 kg)
- 2-3 tbsp of butter or olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Fresh herbs like rosemary, thyme, and garlic
- Optional: Vegetables such as carrots, onions, or potatoes for roasting alongside
Preparation[edit | edit source]
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Clean the chicken and remove any giblets. Pat dry with paper towels.
- Rub the outside of the chicken with butter or olive oil.
- Season generously with salt and pepper. Add optional herbs inside the cavity or under the skin.
- If using vegetables, scatter them around a roasting pan. Place the chicken on top.
- Roast in the preheated oven for about 1.5 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before carving.
Serving Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Serve the roasted chicken with Keto Gravy, a side of Green Gazpacho, or a simple Green Salad.
- The drippings from the chicken can be used to make a delicious sauce or gravy.
