Aragnan blanc
Aragnan blanc is a white grape variety that is primarily grown in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. It is also known as Cavaille, Cavailles, Cavalier, Endelel, Feher Arany Szoeloe, Ranjana and Roussana.
History[edit | edit source]
The origins of Aragnan blanc are not clear, but it is believed to have originated in the southern France. The grape variety is known for its resistance to drought, which makes it particularly well-suited to the arid climate of the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
Viticulture[edit | edit source]
Aragnan blanc is a late ripening grape that requires a long growing season to fully mature. It is resistant to drought and can thrive in poor, rocky soils. However, it is susceptible to various grape diseases, including powdery mildew and grey rot.
Wine production[edit | edit source]
Aragnan blanc is used to produce a variety of wines, including dry, sweet, and sparkling wines. The grape's high acidity makes it suitable for the production of balanced, fresh wines. The wines produced from Aragnan blanc often have aromas of citrus, pear, and white flowers.
Food pairing[edit | edit source]
Aragnan blanc wines pair well with a variety of foods, including seafood, poultry, and light pasta dishes. They also complement dishes with creamy sauces and mild cheeses.
