Guilt-Free Portobello Bun Burgers[edit | edit source]
Guilt-Free Portobello Bun Burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional burgers. They are perfect for those following a keto diet, as they are low in carbs and high in protein.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- 4 large Portobello mushrooms
- 1 lb Ground beef
- 1 Avocado, sliced
- 1 Tomato, sliced
- 1 Red onion, sliced
- 4 slices of Cheese
- Lettuce
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions[edit | edit source]
- Preheat your grill or stovetop pan to medium heat.
- Remove the stems from the Portobello mushrooms and scrape out the gills. Brush both sides with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the Portobello mushrooms for about 5 minutes on each side, until they are tender and cooked through.
- While the mushrooms are cooking, form the ground beef into 4 patties. Season each patty with salt and pepper.
- Cook the patties on the grill or in a pan for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- Once the patties are cooked, place a slice of cheese on top of each one and let it melt.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a Portobello mushroom cap down, then adding the patty with cheese, followed by the avocado, tomato, and onion slices. Top with another Portobello mushroom cap.
- Serve the burgers with a side of lettuce.
