The store is renowned for its innovative design, featuring a 32-foot glass cube entrance, which is a freestanding structure. The cube, made entirely of glass, serves as both an entrance to the store and a landmark in its own right. The store itself is located underground, beneath the cube.

Apple Fifth Avenue opened on May 19, 2006. The store was closed for renovations in 2017 and reopened in 2019. The renovation expanded the store's size, making it one of the largest Apple Stores globally.
