Apple Store
Apple Store is a chain of retail stores owned and operated by Apple Inc., dealing in computers and consumer electronics. The stores sell a variety of Apple products, including Mac personal computers, iPhone smartphones, iPad tablet computers, iPod portable media players, Apple Watch smartwatches, Apple TV digital media players, software, and selected third-party accessories.
History[edit | edit source]
The first Apple Stores were opened in 2001, as Apple's direct sales approach to its customers. The first two stores were located in Tysons Corner, Virginia and Glendale, California. The stores were designed for two primary purposes: to stem the tide of Apple's declining share of the computer market, and to respond to poor marketing of Apple products at third-party retail outlets.
Store design[edit | edit source]
Apple Stores are designed to simplify the layout of stores, minimize barriers to customer interaction, and improve the overall customer experience. The stores are designed with the quality and flexibility of the products in mind, ensuring that the display and layout of the store reflect the brand's philosophy.
Services[edit | edit source]
Apple Stores offer a range of services, from advice and hands-on training to setup and technical support. The Genius Bar is a tech support station, where customers can receive technical advice or set up service and repair for their products. The Today at Apple program offers workshops on topics such as photography, video, music, coding, art, and design.
Online Store[edit | edit source]
In addition to physical retail locations, Apple also operates the Apple Online Store, where products can be purchased and shipped directly to customers, as well as picked up at nearby Apple Store locations.
Criticism and controversy[edit | edit source]
Despite its success, the Apple Store has faced criticism for its labor practices, including alleged unfair labor practices and anti-union behavior.
