From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Apple Music Festival (formerly known as the iTunes Festival) was a music concert series sponsored by Apple Inc. It was first held in 2007 and continued annually until 2017. The festival was held in London, at the Roundhouse venue in Camden Town.

History[edit | edit source]

The Apple Music Festival was first announced by Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Inc., in 2007. The festival was initially named the iTunes Festival, reflecting the company's focus on its iTunes digital media player application. The festival was rebranded as the Apple Music Festival in 2015, following the launch of the Apple Music streaming service.

Format[edit | edit source]

The festival typically took place over a month, with a different band or artist performing each night. The concerts were free to attend, with tickets distributed through a lottery system to Apple Music, iTunes and DICE users residing in the UK. The performances were also streamed live and available to view on-demand via Apple Music.

Performers[edit | edit source]

Over the years, the Apple Music Festival has hosted a wide range of performers, including internationally renowned artists such as Adele, Coldplay, Elton John, and Lady Gaga. The festival was known for its diverse line-up, featuring artists from a variety of genres including pop, rock, indie, and electronic music.

Cancellation[edit | edit source]

In 2017, Apple announced that it would no longer be hosting the Apple Music Festival, instead focusing on special one-off events and concerts. The decision was seen as part of a broader shift in Apple's music strategy, with the company increasingly focusing on its Apple Music streaming service.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Despite its cancellation, the Apple Music Festival is remembered for its contribution to the live music scene in London and its innovative use of technology to bring concerts to a global audience. The festival's emphasis on accessibility and diversity in its line-up has also been influential in shaping other music festivals.
