Obstetrics is a specialty of medicine and surgery that deals with pregnancy, labor and delivery of the baby while gynecology deals with diseases and disorders of the women, with respect to reproductive health.

  • Obstetricians and Gynecologists are physicians that provide medical care related to pregnancy or childbirth.
  • These physicians diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases of women, particularly those affecting the reproductive system.
  • May also provide general care to women.
  • May perform both medical and gynecological surgery functions.
