Julio Gonzalez is an American politician and physician who served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 74th district, which includes parts of Sarasota County, from 2014 to 2018. He is a member of the Republican Party.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Gonzalez was born in Miami, Florida. He attended the University of Miami, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

Medical career[edit | edit source]

Before entering politics, Gonzalez worked as an orthopedic surgeon. He has been involved in various medical organizations and has contributed to the field through both practice and advocacy.

Political career[edit | edit source]

Gonzalez was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2014, succeeding Doug Holder. During his tenure, he focused on issues such as healthcare, education, and economic development. He served on several committees and was known for his conservative stance on various issues.

In 2018, Gonzalez ran for the United States House of Representatives for Florida's 17th congressional district, but he did not win the primary election. After his term in the Florida House ended, he returned to his medical practice.
