Obesity in Colombia
Colombia, officially known as the Republic of Colombia, is a country located in the northwestern part of South America. It is bordered by Panama to the northwest, Venezuela and Brazil to the east, and Peru and Ecuador to the south. The country's diverse geography and climate contribute to its rich biodiversity, which is among the highest in the world.
In 2016, Colombia had an adult obesity rate of 22.3%, ranking it 78th globally. This figure is a significant concern for the country's public health system, as obesity is a risk factor for many non-communicable diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer.
