Laos, officially known as the Lao People's Democratic Republic, is a landlocked country located in East Asia and Southeast Asia. It is bordered by Myanmar and China to the northwest, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the southeast, and Thailand to the west and southwest.

Healthcare in Laos[edit | edit source]

Healthcare in Laos has seen significant improvements in the past two decades, but still faces challenges. The country has a basic healthcare infrastructure, with hospitals and clinics spread across the country. However, access to healthcare services can be limited, particularly in rural areas.

Obesity in Laos[edit | edit source]

In 2016, the adult obesity rate in Laos was 5.3%, ranking it 179th globally. This relatively low rate can be attributed to the country's dietary habits, which are largely based on rice and vegetables, and a lifestyle that includes physical labor.

Despite the low obesity rate, the government has implemented various health programs to promote healthy eating and physical activity. These programs aim to prevent the rise of obesity and other non-communicable diseases.

Weight Loss Facilities in Laos[edit | edit source]

While there are no specific weight loss facilities in Laos, several hospitals and clinics offer nutritional advice and support for individuals seeking to lose weight. These include the Mahosot Hospital in Vientiane, the Luang Prabang Provincial Hospital, and the Savannakhet Provincial Hospital.
