New orleans braised onions (recipe) is a keto friendly food item with net carbohydrates of about 4-5 per serving.
Recipe instructions
- Stud onions with cloves. Place in slow cooker and sprinkle with salt, pepper, thyme and orange zest. Pour orange juice and stock over onions. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, until onions are tender.
- Using a slotted spoon, transfer onions to a serving dish and keep in a warm 250 oven. Transfer liquid to a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until reduced by half.
- When ready to serve, cut onions in quarters. Place on platter and cover with sauce. Serve garnished with parsley.
