Chemical structure of MeJDTic

MeJDTic is a chemical compound that acts as a selective antagonist of the kappa-opioid receptor (KOR). It is primarily used in scientific research to study the role of the kappa-opioid receptor in various physiological and pathological processes.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

MeJDTic is known for its high affinity and selectivity for the kappa-opioid receptor, which is one of the four main types of opioid receptors, the others being mu, delta, and nociceptin receptors. The kappa-opioid receptor is involved in modulating pain perception, mood, and stress responses.

Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]

As a kappa-opioid receptor antagonist, MeJDTic binds to the receptor and inhibits its activation by endogenous ligands such as dynorphin. This blockade can lead to alterations in neurotransmitter release and changes in neuronal excitability, which are thought to underlie its effects on mood and stress.

Therapeutic Potential[edit | edit source]

Research into MeJDTic and other kappa-opioid receptor antagonists has suggested potential therapeutic applications in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders. By blocking the kappa-opioid receptor, these compounds may alleviate dysphoria and reduce stress-induced drug-seeking behavior.

Chemical Properties[edit | edit source]

MeJDTic is a synthetic compound with the IUPAC name 3-((2S)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolin-2-ylmethyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-1-one. It has a molecular formula of C₁₉H₂₀N₂O and a molecular weight of 292.38 g/mol.

Research and Development[edit | edit source]

MeJDTic has been used extensively in preclinical studies to explore the role of the kappa-opioid receptor in various models of disease. Its development has provided valuable insights into the potential for kappa-opioid receptor antagonists as novel therapeutic agents.
