16α-Fluoroestradiol
16α-Fluoroestradiol is a synthetic, steroidal estrogen with high affinity for the estrogen receptor. It is a fluorinated derivative of estradiol, and was first described in the literature in 1966.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
16α-Fluoroestradiol, also known as 16α-fluoro-17β-estradiol, is a synthetic estrane steroid and a derivative of estradiol. It is specifically a derivative of estradiol with a fluorine atom at the C16α position.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
16α-Fluoroestradiol has been found to possess high affinity for the estrogen receptor, about 14% of that of estradiol. It has been used in scientific research to study the estrogen receptor and the actions of estrogens.
