4-AcO-MiPT
4-AcO-MiPT (also known as 4-Acetoxy-N,N-methylisopropyltryptamine) is a novel psychedelic substance of the tryptamine class. It is chemically similar to psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in magic mushrooms.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
4-AcO-MiPT is a synthetic compound of the tryptamine class. Tryptamines share a core structure comprised of a bicyclic indole heterocycle attached at R3 to an amino group via an ethyl side chain. 4-AcO-MiPT is substituted at R4 of its indole heterocycle with an acetoxy (AcO) functional group CH3COO−. It also contains a methyl group and an isopropyl chain bound to the terminal amine RN of its tryptamine backbone (MiPT).
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
The pharmacology of 4-AcO-MiPT is not well-studied. However, it is thought to act as a serotonin receptor agonist, similar to other psychedelic tryptamines. This means it binds to and activates certain serotonin receptors in the brain, leading to its psychedelic effects.
Effects[edit | edit source]
The effects of 4-AcO-MiPT are reported to be somewhat similar to those of other psychedelic tryptamines. They can include open and closed-eye visuals, time distortion, enhanced introspection, and ego loss. As with all psychedelics, the effects can be influenced by set, setting, dosage, and the individual's personal chemistry.
Toxicity and Harm Potential[edit | edit source]
The toxicity and long-term health effects of recreational 4-AcO-MiPT use have not been studied in any scientific context and the exact toxic dosage is unknown. As with all substances, the adverse effects are more likely with higher doses.
Legal Status[edit | edit source]
The legal status of 4-AcO-MiPT varies by country. In some countries, it is a controlled substance, while in others it is legal to possess for personal use.
