ICI 182780 is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that acts as an antagonist to the estrogen receptor. It is also known as Fulvestrant and marketed under the brand name Faslodex among others.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

ICI 182780 is a drug that is used primarily in the treatment of breast cancer. It works by binding to the estrogen receptor and blocking the effects of estrogen in the body. This can help to slow the growth of certain types of breast cancer cells that require estrogen to grow.

Uses[edit | edit source]

ICI 182780 is used to treat hormone receptor positive metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women with disease progression following anti-estrogen therapy. It is also used for the treatment of hormone receptor positive, advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women not previously treated with hormonal therapy.

Side Effects[edit | edit source]

Common side effects of ICI 182780 include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, diarrhea, upset stomach, tiredness, weakness, headache, body aches/pains, bone/joint/muscle pain, dizziness, hot flashes, sweating, or redness at the injection site.
