Desyrel

Desyrel (generic name: Trazodone) is a medication primarily used to treat depression. It is classified as a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI) that works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain, which helps maintain mental balance.

Uses[edit | edit source]

Desyrel is used to treat major depressive disorder and may also be used for relief of an anxiety disorder (e.g., sleeplessness, tension), chronic pain or to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Side Effects[edit | edit source]

Possible side effects of Desyrel include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, blurred vision, changes in weight, headache, muscle ache/pain, dry mouth, and bad taste in the mouth.

Precautions[edit | edit source]

Before taking Desyrel, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to nefazodone; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Interactions[edit | edit source]

Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Overdose[edit | edit source]

If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away.

Missed Dose[edit | edit source]

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Take your next dose at the regular time.

Storage[edit | edit source]

Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
