Oh so easy roast chicken (recipe) is a keto friendly food item with net carbohydrates of about zero per serving.
Recipe instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350.
- Put salt in a small bowl near your sink.
- Take the chicken out of its package.
- Remove the gizzards, etc. (the package in the cavity of the chicken). (If you make stock, these go in a pot with water and seasoning).
- Remove the extra fat at the bottom of the chicken near the 'parson's nose'.
- Rinse the inside and outside of the chicken.
- Put some of the salt on your fingertips (a good amount, please) and use it as an abrasive to scrub the inside of the chicken. This many need to be repeated a few times.
- Use some of the salt to scrub the outside of the chicken as well.
- Rinse the excess salt off the inside and outside of the chicken.
- Pat the outside dry.
- Place the chicken in an oven proof dish, breast side down, with about a tablespoon of water.
- Bakethe chicken in the oven.
- Basing the time on 20 minutes per pound, turn the chicken over and place it on its back halfway through the baking period.
- Let it go through the remainder of the baking on its back,.
- When done, based on time, remove and enjoy!.
