Fancy prepared chiles or peppers (recipe) is a keto friendly food item with net carbohydrates of 0-1 per serving.
Recipe instructions
- Wash peppers and dry on paper towels.
- Cut off tops.
- Pack tightly into shallow pan.
- Broil 5-10 minutes - until skins start to blister and brown.
- Turn 1/3; broil 5-10 more minutes.
- Turn 1/3; broil 5-10 more minutes.
- Let cool slightly.
- Place peppers in large plastic bag(s).
- Let sit to steam at least 1/2 hour.
- Put on surgical gloves if peppers are spicy hot.
- Peel the peppers.
- Carefully remove the innards. As small skinny knife is useful.
- Optional - fill with your favorite cheesy filling.
- Freeze untouching in layers overnight.
- Place in freezer bag for later use.
- I use the toaster oven - its tray fits 24 jalapenos.
