Anise flavoured beetroot salad (recipe) is a keto friendly food item with net carbohydrates of about 1-2 per serving.

Recipe instructions

  1. Cover unpeeled beetroot with water, and cook until tender.
  2. Peel, cool and then dice.
  3. Mix together thoroughly the oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.
  4. Stir in onion and crushed aniseed.
  5. Mix in beets gently.
  6. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  7. Salad improves in flavour when kept several hours or days in the fridge.
