25D-NBOH

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

A synthetic psychedelic compound

25D-NBOH is a synthetic psychedelic compound that belongs to the NBOH series of phenethylamines. It is a derivative of the 2C family of psychedelics, specifically related to 2C-D.

Chemical Structure and Properties[edit | edit source]

25D-NBOH is chemically known as 2-(4-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-(2-methoxyphenyl)ethanamine). It features a phenethylamine core with methoxy groups at the 2 and 5 positions of the phenyl ring, and an N-benzyl group substituted with a hydroxy group at the para position.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

25D-NBOH acts as a potent agonist at the 5-HT2A receptor, which is the primary target for classical psychedelics. This receptor is a subtype of the serotonin receptor and is responsible for the hallucinogenic effects of compounds like LSD and psilocybin.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of 25D-NBOH are similar to those of other psychedelics, including altered perception of time and space, visual hallucinations, and changes in thought patterns. Users may experience enhanced sensory perception and emotional responses.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

As of the current date, 25D-NBOH is not specifically controlled under international drug laws, but its legal status may vary by country. It is often sold as a research chemical and may be subject to analogue laws in certain jurisdictions.

Safety and Toxicity[edit | edit source]

There is limited data on the safety and toxicity of 25D-NBOH. As with other research chemicals, the lack of comprehensive studies means that potential risks are not fully understood. Users should exercise caution and be aware of the potential for adverse effects.

History and Development[edit | edit source]

25D-NBOH was first synthesized in the early 21st century as part of research into new psychoactive substances. It is one of several NBOH compounds that have been explored for their psychedelic properties.
